With myriad destinations to visit and explore and a lot more to see and experience, Africa is indeed a hotbed of safari trips and adventure. To the east is the magical Masai Mara-Serengeti wilderness where the 7th wonder of the world happens every year. To the north, Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza offer a sneak outlook of the ancient Egyptian world. However, nothing quite matches the Victoria Falls from December through March when the falls go berserk and attract a huge list of adventure lovers.
If you are planning to tour Africa, do have these destinations in your itinerary.
- Giza Necropolis, Egypt
If you often mesmerize on the history-rich, medieval pyramid of Giza in Egypt, then have Giza as your next vacation spot. Being the country’s most iconic structures and indeed nearby to the city of Cairo, Giza Necropolis offers a short trip to the past. While there, however, you’ll tour the Sphinx and some smaller pyramids as well as the few museum spots close by.
- Serengeti, Tanzania
Right in the northern part of Tanzania is a vast animal conservancy with more than a million wildebeests, over 200,000 zebras, and other animals. What actually makes Serengeti amazing is how animals like cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, gazelles, buffalos, lions, warthogs and the other breeds can coexist together. But your visit won’t be complete without hiking the famous Mt. Kilimanjaro that’s just adjacent to the park.
- Victoria Falls, Zambia-Zimbabwe border
Being another mystical feature in Africa, Victoria Falls amasses over a million sightseers every year. The sound of the water hitting the rocks below and the sight alone is magical and indeed one to behold. But if you would love to travel and see the falls, do so between December and March.
- Masai Mara, Kenya
Africa has a huge number of animal parks, but none simply rivals the Mara. Every year, thousands upon thousands of tourists flock the park to witness a rare occurrence as the wildebeests cross the crocodile-filled Mara River. The Mara neighbors Tanzania’s Serengeti and also offers a chance to interact the native Maasai community known for their unconventional culture and ways of life.
- Marrakech, Morocco
Despite being the 3rd largest Moroccan city, Marrakech continues to be the region’s major tourist destination. It is a cool, exciting and historic city whose structures and architecture are as pristinely kept as they were over a century ago. In fact, the ancient town center of Medina and the bustling Djemaa El-Fna welcomes tourists looking to, not only see the old city, but also marvel at the snake charmers, acrobats, and sellers of local culinary favorites.
- Kruger, South Africa
It is a major educational, tourism and conservancy park that has even featured in several movies and documentaries in the past. What makes Kruger incredible and worth visiting is the permit that allows one to drive on their own and without the aid of a tours guide. Brace yourself because you’ll meet a fantastic game that includes vicious rhinos.
Other areas worth visiting include the mesmerizing Black River Gorges National Park in Mauritius, the massive Okavango Delta in Botswana and perhaps the best African beach called Praslin in Seychelles. For a bit of nature, Congo’s Virunga National Park, as well as Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, awaits.
